Duke Christie
Furniture maker and sculptor Duke Christie’s intricate and beautiful work is created in his workshop tucked away in the surrounding hills of Moray, where he makes one-off pieces of furniture and functional works of art from beautiful Scottish hardwoods. Duke has a reputation for producing work of outstanding quality, undertaking a number of historic renovation projects within the Royal Apartments at Edinburgh Castle, furnishing a home in Palo Alto California, and the Walraversijde Museum Project in West Flanders.
Employing innovative techniques and ideas inspired by the surrounding landscapes of the beautiful and varied Scottish coast, Duke explores more expressive and sculptural pieces, where his interest lies in the surface, as well as the form of these unique sculptures. He is constantly experimenting with new ways to sculpt and shape these sophisticated and tactile forms that are both stimulating and interactive.
